1954 | 300SL Gullwing Coupe

Mercedes-Benz automobiles were exhibited at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto, making their first appearance since prior to World War II. 1954 also marked the launch of the legendary 300 SL Gullwing Coupe.

Mercedes-Benz of Canada Limited was incorporated under Federal Letters Patent. This event marked the official arrival of Mercedes-Benz in Canada. Two retail stores were opened: one at 100 Davenport Road in Toronto (which doubled as the company's head office), and another at 3475 Park Avenue in Montreal.

1957

Carling Motors, now Star Motors, opened in Ottawa and Automobiles Chicoine opened in St-Hyacinthe, Quebec. These dealerships stand today as the longest-running independent Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Canada.
