ENGINE DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: ONE MAN, ONE ENGINE
From the company's beginnings in 1967, founders Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher laid out a set of guiding principles. Each AMG engine reflects the work of only one technician, and is completely constructed by hand. Each work procedure is precisely executed, preserving the basic idea of "One man, one engine".
When we say, "one man, one engine," the phrase means quite literally what it suggests. Our engineers painstakingly build each engine by hand from the installation of the camshaft in the engine block, to fitting the camshafts and the supercharger, to the installation of the wiring and filling the system with engine oil, each engine is the sum of the efforts of a single engineer. When
an engine is complete, it is authenticated by the engineer who built it with his own signature, inscribed on a special plate.
Hand craftsmanship goes hand in hand with absolute precision and delicate fingerwork. Our engineers are trained to the highest standards. This and their many years of experience guarantee the impeccable quality, longevity, and reliability of every AMG high-performance engine.
